Three Elements

Reach for the Stars, was selected through a national competition and is now located in the Student Union of the University of Central Florida in Orlando. The design features three ribbon-like shapes from which water smoothly glides down into a circular basin below. The edges of these ribbons remain dry, showcasing the meticulous application of surface tension properties to guide the water flow precisely along the concave surfaces.

At the top of the sculpture, four curvilinear elements, resembling star-like forms, are affixed, adding a celestial aspect to the design. These elements symbolize aspiration and achievement, resonating with the university’s motto, “Reach For the Stars” demonstrating its commitment to fostering an environment of academic excellence and ambition.

Reach for the Stars not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the Student Union but also serves as a metaphor for the educational aspirations of its students. Positioned prominently within a communal space, the sculpture becomes a focal point for reflection and inspiration, encouraging students and visitors alike to contemplate their own goals and the heights they aspire to achieve.
