Vertical Sculpture in Suspension
High Five is a monumental public art proposal envisioned for the primary west entrance plaza of the new RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
Rising 50 feet into the sky, High Five is a mirror-polished stainless steel sculpture suspended in a powerful vertical ascent. Its form surges upward through flowing concave and convex planes, echoing a sheet of satin caught in a rising wind. The reflective surface captures light, motion, and the surrounding city, continuously transforming throughout the day. At once elegant and bold, the sculpture announces arrival through the universally understood and jubilant gesture of a high five.
A high five marks a shared instant of energy and connection, the moment hands lift together in celebration. This gesture embodies:
• The thrill of arriving at a major stadium event
• The eruption of joy after a game-changing touchdown
• A collective experience shared by thousands
• Celebration of unity, optimism, and life
• The renewal and reimagining of the RFK Stadium site
• Anticipation for the return of a major stadium to Washington, D.C. after decades
High Five is conceived as a civic icon and a celebration of community. It honors the people of Washington, D.C., alongside the millions of visitors who will gather here for generations. Standing at the gateway to the stadium, the sculpture becomes a symbol of unity, momentum, and renewal—marking the beginning of a bold new chapter for the city.
